BBH’s plan to redevelop the former Machon Elementary School into affordable housing for seniors has received the go ahead from the Swampscott Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)! The ZBA held a public hearing in late August and approved BBH’s comprehensive permit request under Chapter 40B for the redevelopment of the property into 38 affordable units for seniors. Permits were officially received in October, and the BBH team is currently applying for funding that will move the development forward.
Occupancy at Senior Residences at the Machon will be available for those aged 55 or older. There will be a local preference for the building, with up to 70 percent of the units given priority for Swampscott residents. The development will be a service-enriched community based on BBH’s award winning model and will offer resident service coordination and on-site staff to help residents access the community-based services they need. Thank you to all of our partners who have worked so hard to support BBH and this development. As we begin the funding process, we hope you will continue to show your support.
