Sudbury Board of Selectman Endorse CPA Funding Request for The Coolidge at Sudbury, Phase 2

Earlier this month, BBH received unanimous endorsement from the Sudbury Board of Selectman for our effort to secure Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds for The Coolidge at Sudbury, Phase 2. We are thrilled to have their support as we move forward with this request which will help make additional affordable housing a reality. Thank you to everyone who advocated for us! Together we can create more places for seniors to call home in the Sudbury area.

Meet Our Residents: The Faces of Affordable Housing

Meet Mahin, an Iranian immigrant and resident of the The Coolidge at Sudbury. Two years ago, after living with her sister in Wayland, Mahin and her husband Parvis moved to the Coolidge. This move provided Mahin with the opportunity for independence while remaining close to her family, and that combination has changed her life.

As someone who likes to stay active, Mahin takes full advantage of the service-enriched housing available to all residents of The Coolidge. She uses the fitness room regularly, and, along with Resident Service Coordinator, Julie, became certified to teach “Matter of Balance” classes to residents of The Coolidge and the greater Sudbury community. She also visits the library daily to use the computer and study.

Mahin loves the sense of community at The Coolidge; she enjoys playing bingo, attending movie nights, and chatting with her neighbors. “Living here is good for my quality of life. I am a foreigner and it’s a great to talk to the other residents and learn from them, and they like to learn from me as well. I’ve never met people so kind – they are really special.”

Senior Project Manager, Jesse Kanson-Benanav to Speak at 2018 LOCUS New England Summit

On October 24, BBH’s Jesse Kanson-Benanav will join more than 100 other real estate developers, investors, and local elected officials from across the region for the 2018 LOCUS New England Leadership Summit.  LOCUS, Latin for “place,” is a program associated with the nonprofit advocacy group, Smart Growth America.  Jesse will be moderating the “Growing Smarter in New England” panel that will bring together experts at a variety of scales to share best-practices and lessons for implementing smart growth policy at the state, municipal, and site-specific level.

Across the country demand is high for real estate in sustainable, walkable urban places. Yet too often, public policy hampers developers’ ability to build the development that would meet this demand. LOCUS brings together real estate developers and investors from across the country to change policy and build neighborhoods that are more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable for America’s future.

BBH Selected for Harvard Business School’s CAP Program

BBH is pleased to announce that we have been chosen by Harvard Business School to participate in its 2018-19 CAP (Community Action Partners)program. Since its inception in 1993, more than 1,000 CAP volunteers have served over 200 nonprofit clients in a variety of sectors including arts and culture, education, housing, and community economic and workforce development. We are excited to be working with the CAP team of HBS alumni volunteers on strategic initiatives that will support our growth and expansion.

In Their Own Words…

Being able to stay in my hometown, near friends and family was great. And now I have a whole new community at The Coolidge to socialize with, too. It is wonderful!
