Our Board of Directors consists of some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, driving our work and our success. This month, we’d like to highlight Giovanny Valencia, a professionally trained architect from Colombia with a background in politics, education, and community development.
Since moving to the United States in 2006, Gio has continued his involvement in politics with local City of Boston and Massachusetts State House campaigns and as a community leader, volunteer and board member for different organizations including B’nai B’rith Housing. He has also recently been named as a member of the City of Boston Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Congratulations Gio!
“As an architect and community organizer, I’ve spent my professional career working with local communities and governmental organizations in finding ways to promote the creation and preservation of affordable housing. Supporting the Parkway 1208 project in my neighborhood of West Roxbury helped me to learn more about BBH and the tremendous work they do in the Boston area, and I was thrilled when they invited me to join their Board of Directors.”
Op Ed: ‘Buy American’ Would Have Exacerbated Housing Shortage
In her most recent Op Ed, Susan Gittelman discusses how HUD is to be commended for delaying implementation of Buy America Preference (BAP), at least until domestically sourced material is available at competitive prices.
“It may be impossible to comply with “Buy American” because materials may not be produced domestically.”
