At B’nai B’rith Housing, we remain committed to creating opportunities for vibrant, inclusive communities through affordable housing. This month’s updates highlight the impactful work we’re doing to advance sustainability, advocacy, and innovative solutions.
Blanchard Road Development
Cambridge’s growing need for affordable senior housing has inspired a new development that we’re proud to bring to Blanchard Road. Nestled in the Cambridge Highlands neighborhood and near the Cambridge-Belmont line, this location combines the charm of a quiet neighborhood, with the convenience of nearby public amenities.
The project includes 110 units for seniors aged 55 and older. Beyond its thoughtful design, the property will offer robust amenities such as a community room, outdoor courtyard, library, and fitness center. The development promises to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for Cambridge’s senior community.
As Susan points out, assisting municipalities to achieve former school-to-affordable-senior-housing takes advantage of the timely combination of declining public-school enrollments, a rising number of older adults and new resources from the Commonwealth’s housing bond bill.
1201 River Street is making excellent progress! The steel and metal decking installation is now complete, concrete has been poured and wood framing has begun, bringing the structure closer to its final form.

Community Corner: A Memorable Concert at Covenant House
We are grateful to the Pyatigorsky Foundation for sponsoring a classical music performance in November at Covenant House in Brighton which was so well received by our residents. And what a turnout! Our longstanding partnership with the Foundation ensures that our residents can enjoy these unique cultural experiences. Bravo!
Sustainable Housing
We are pleased to announce that the solar panel installation at Coolidge 2 in Sudbury will be up and running by the end of this year. The environmental benefits are significant, with the project’s impact equivalent to preserving 78 acres of forest, contributing to the broader effort of addressing climate change.
This project exemplifies our belief that affordable housing can play a leading role in promoting environmental responsibility. By incorporating renewable energy into our developments, we ensure that our communities not only provide stable homes for residents but also contribute to a sustainable future.
