From Russia to California to Massachusetts, Elena traveled thousands of miles before settling at Covenant House Communities in the early 2000s. The independence it provided her was life changing.
Elena had been living with her daughter Stoughton, but needed a place of her own in town, closer to where she worked. Moving to Covenant House made it possible for Elena to walk to work and not feel like a burden to her daughter. Now retired, Elena is able to stay active and be part of the community she has grown to love. She spends time with her neighbors and attends fitness and yoga classes led by Activity Coordinator, Catrina that help Elena with her arthritis “It is good to keep moving,” Elena says, “I like to stay fit and catch up with my friends – and my daughter likes knowing she can have her own life without worrying about her mother.”
The combination of physical exercise and the social connection help Elena keep her body and mind spry. BBH is proud to offer residents like Elena the service-enriched housing that allows them to thrive.
